Seventh- day Sabbath in the Old Testament
Seventh- day Sabbath in the Old
Testament
It is common to hear Christians refer
Sunday as the Lord’s Day and find interpreting John’s statement accordingly,
but there is no reference in the scriptures to Sunday as the Lord’s Day. Jesus
claimed Sabbath as His Day in Mark 20:28.
The first day of the week is mention
eight (8) times in the New Testament, but at no time it is called Sabbath. Read
Mathew 28:1, mark 16:1-2-9, John 20:1, luck 24:1, 1 cor. 16:2, Arts 20:7.
1.
The
God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all
His works which God had created and make. Genesis 2:11.
2.
For
in six days the lord made the heavens and earth, the sea, and all that is in
them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the lord blessed the Sabbath day
and hallowed it. Exodus 20:11.
3.
Six
days you shall do all your work and on the seventh day you shall rest, that
your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female servant and the
stranger may be refreshed. Exodus 23:12.
